County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 112, also known as Wayzata Boulevard, is an important
corridor within the County. This roadway supports local and regional economic development,
and services Hennepin County commuters as well as local roadway users as they access
area residences, businesses and schools. CSAH 112 is a four-mile long corridor within
the cities of Long Lane and Orono that was previously Trunk Highway (TH) 12 prior
to the construction of the TH 12 bypass by MnDOT.
The “turn-back” of roadway jurisdiction from MnDOT to Hennepin County has allowed
the county, along with the cities of Orono and Long Lake, to evaluate the roadway
and identify potential improvements that deliver safe and efficient transportation
while balancing the needs and desires of the local community. The county has completed
the conceptual and preliminary design for the project, in March of 2014.
The county has begun the final design for the segment of CSAH 112 from Willow Drive
to Wolf Point Trail. Construction for this segment is scheduled to begin in 2017.
